While installing my new mini fuel tank and crawling around in extremely contorted positions, I noticed my fuel fill hose as originally installed had a low spot where stagnant fuel would collect. Obviously I wanted pristine new fuel treated with sta bil in the tank for the initial fill. I used a 5 gallon jug with fresh fuel and a siphon but when I put the siphon tube in the hose and pulled it out it had a coating of yellow disgusting almost crystalline type contamination on the hose. It looks like this low spot collects fuel, then the fuel evaporates and this residue is left behind and builds up over time. My plan therefore is remove the fill hose, throw it in the trash and install a new one with no low spots where things can collect and grow. The moral of the story is check your fuel fill tube installation as you may be introducing contamination into your tanks every time you fill up. Unless anyone tells me I am violating some ABC code I will put in as straight a run into the tank as possible. Please advise if anyone knows any special installation requirements for a fuel fill hose. Thanks. Fuel fill hose is like 10 bucks a foot, another reason to keep it short.
