Hi there! As I'm planning the trip fron St. Augustine to Venezuela, I'd appreciatte if you could please inform me about the fuel consumption for the Yanmar 29 HP model in a Hunter 33.TIA
See the chart on the Yanmar link provided. As I read it:2500 RPM .062750 RPM .753000 RPM 1.03250 RPM 1.3I had a 32 with a 27 HP yanmar, and I typically got better than 1 gallon/hour running 2900 RPM.Good luck and have a great trip.Rick D.
A couple of years ago we made the trip down from the Bay to Venezuela. We hopped through the Bahamas and were able to sail a fair amount. The worst area to sail was the Bahamas. We motor/sailed most of them.We sailed to Turks and then sailed to Puerto Rico. We motored dead into the wind along the coast to San Juan. From Fajardo we beam reached to Bonaire and sailed to Venezuela from there. We had no problem finding fuel and were able to sail most of the trip. Though we did get to beat into what NoneSuch called the prevailing noserlies. But we had to make the east.My recommendations is to plan and do as many easterly jumps as you can. The further east you get the more oppourtnity to sail. We did several 4-5 day offshore passages and they were good for sailing and miles. Venezuela is great and I am typing this while at Marina Bahia Redonda.
