I have an '82 Hunter with a 6.5 1 cyl. yanmar diesel. The fuel gauge doesn't work so I was wondering if anyone has any estimations on what this little engine will consume in an hour with an average rpms of 3000. She seems to never run out of a fuel! Yanmar suggested running her tank almost empty cause fuel age is unknown. Filters are clean and have been changed, stabilizer has also been added, have no problems to speak of, I was just curious?

Guesstimate.

Lyn: Just a guess, but I would figure .5 gal/hr. You may want to fill it up and clock your hours then refill it again and do the math.

I have the 1G on my 27, also

and figure it at about 3/4 gallon per hour. I have calculated it several ways and times. I, too, have never run out of fuel, but have run for lots of hours before refilling and/or topping off. Runs clean and no water, either. This figure should work well for you. Also, I have found that my fuel gauge wasn't working due to -- a loose wire to the back. A two minute fix and back in action.

About a quart an hour

Baroque (1 cyl. Yanmar)also has a non-operating gauge. I asked the former owner and others and they said a quart per hour. Last season was less than 7 gallons although I will have to check the log this weekend and try to remember to post the actual hours but last years results suggest less than a quart per hour. Another owner said his 2 cyl. Yanmar is about 1/2 gallon per hour. I try to be prudent and not get embarrassed by running the tank too low. Andy
