Argh! Took the 3rd off in an attempt to wrap up and launch to at least be in the water in CT for the fourth. That would allow me to get in a couple of shake down voyages before finally setting sail for Winthrop MA next weekend. I got to the yard, tracked down the yard manager and told him my plans...put the new prop nut on (the other new one had evidence of cracking so it had to go)...clean the bilge (still dealing with spilled diesel)...flush out and fire up the engine and then hopefully launch around 3pm. He said that would be fine and then we negotiated a rate for a slip for a week. I put the new nut on in high spirits, thrilled to know that my new S2 9.2A was going in after all my hard work. The yard manager walked by, shook his head and pointed to the piles of wood blocks stacked carefully on pallets next to my boat. "Our forklift broke and is at the shop. It won't be back until Wednesday. I've got no way to move those and I can't get the travel lift in there to move your boat." Disappointed, I continued with my plans and completed my assigned tasks. The engine fired right up and runs great. The bilge is reasonably clean of diesel. I rinsed it twice and left the boom in there to soak up the rest. I can wait until Wednesday or I can try my hand at moving (literally) a ton of wood this weekend. There are six pallets. Two are pretty light. Two are stacked with 2 x 4's but one is stacked six feet high with sections of telephone pole and the other six feet high with sections of large square blocking. It is possible, but it would definitely be a work out for one person.Anyway...Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope you are out enjoying yourselves. I plan to go back down to the boat to clean and organize...rinse my water tank...etc...and to stare at the piles of wood...perhaps I'll try moving some...
