The kill switch (actually the control that's pulled after switching the ignition key off) is frozen. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.Ned Strains/v Family Therapy 1995 H336Chicago
Ned:I presume that you are talking about the fuel shut off control for a diesel. You are actually suppose to pull the knob and then turn off the key. Depending on which model boat/engine you have you should be able to get this from any Yanmar dealer. We actually moved ours from the cockpit to the top of the engine compartment. This keeps the cable from corroding and adds a slight theft deterent. If you leave it pulled out they cannot start the engine without breaking into the boat (not too many that would diagnois an engine problem to steal it.
Remove the set screw that fastenes the cable end to the lever on the engine. Gently attempt to move the lever on the engine, if it moves easily, your problem is the cable, if it does not move then your problem is in the engine high pressure fuel pump. My guess is the cable. Just replace the cable.
