I have 79/27'Hunter with a Grey Trapezoid Hatch (the one over the v-berth)which needs replacing. I understand that Grey was bought out by Bomar which doesn't make this hatch any longer. Without going into major cutting to make a larger opening, does anyone know if there is any company out their that makes a similar hatch for this opening.

What You need is a square, hatch the same size as the widest point on your original hatch which is 22" in the aft sect. Randy, I got tired of chasing water leaks from my old broken/repaired hatch so I had to spend the big bucks. The Bomar #2092-10A hatch is trapizoidal like the original but is larger (wider) in the rear. I used a router to cut into the fiberglass to make it fit. Like Glenn I purchased the 2092-10A trap. hatch from bomar. I was a little concerned about cutting into the deck core, so I opted to fabricate a trim ring out of polymer to raise the hatch enough to clear the original opening. This installation worked great for me. Im not to fond of fiberglass work, and thought making the necessary cut out in the deck might expose the deck core and need filling. Sounds like Glenn pulled it off without a hitch. Either method will produce good results. The hatch is a good quality aluminum frame replacement that should provide many years of good service. I would not attempt to cobble the old plastic piece of junk back to life. It will probably need replacing eventually. Try JSI for price comparison. I found they were cheaper than any other source. $285 in Nov. of 99. 800-234-3220. Nobody will have this hatch in stock. It is a special order item from Bomar.
