Front hatch latch

I too have no way to lock my forward hatch. I've been trying to figure
out some sort of solution but so far nothing has presented itself. I
have a fitting on the hatch itself but nothing to hook it to. There
are no moving parts, just a stainless steel coat hook looking thing.
Ideas?

Andy:

I asked the same question of the group a few years ago. I settled on
a T-bar latch that I bought from Jamestown supply. (See web address
below, I got the bronze version).

You should be able to get something similar at your local marine
supply house. I had to do a little filing to make the part work (5
to 10 minutes of customizing). Haven't had any problems with it
since.

Thanks for your suggestion.. I will still try to get the bolt as it is the least headbanging solution.

What area are you in at mit.? or were you in.

Hi, All:

Since I sold my Vega, I have purchased a .....Grady White. It has a latch
on its fwd hatch that is identical to the Vega one.

Might be worth a try to check your nearest Grady White dealer.....

Good Luck...........................Ed

The original (Or at least the one that came with the boat when I got it) stripped out and wouldn't tighten. I found an identical replacement at the local chandlery. I believe it came from Perko but their web site gave me a headache trying to find it for you. West has several different styles but I didnt see the exact one on their on-line catalog.

Dammit! Where were you when I was asking for that picture?
That would have saved me $20 and mounting a new one!
I would have just bought the screw
Yes that one is the stock one. At least that's what I had, but
apparently the "screw" portion was lost. I'd bet dollars to donuts
that piece is metric. Everything else on the boat is.
Um...except ME.
