Well once again the Military is moving my family and my boat to different waters, and i mean different, I have sailed on freshwater lakes for all my sailing experience and now am faced with the prospect of putting in the Chesapeake, My question is: what changes should i make to my boat to make it in a salt water environment, and will i have to modify my outboard (mercury 7.5)? any reply would be appreciated

Been there...

...done that. The only change you'll need to make to your outboard is to make sure the zinc is OK. If you don't have one, add one. Add a zinc anyplace you have dissimilar metals under water. I had a C-22 and put zincs on the swing keel pivots. They worked. Plan on flushing your outboard frequently. A depth gauge is handy until your "local knowledge" builds up. Enjoy your new sailing grounds. Jim h37.5 "Prospect"

A MUST!

Add a VHF radio. Also, if you don't have one already, a GPS.

Of course you'll paint the bottom...

with anti-fouling bottom paint?? If not you'll wonder why the boats slowing down and have a big surprise very shortly. All little things growing on the bottom.
