Has anyone installed a refrigerator of any size on a Hunter 28.5? If I could install a reefer in my boat it would go a long way to make me happier with the boat! Tired of lugging ice and having stuff spoil in the ice box. I would assume it would work off both ac and dc, automatically shift to dc when the shore power is disconnected? Where would it go? Since I've gotten into boating, I've got more questions than there are answers!

circuit city

Here's what I did. I bought a small college dorm type fridge at circuit city for $125.- buy the extended warrantee, the compressors don't last forever! The fridge is black and kinda sleek looking, looks really nice in the boat compared to others that I shopped around and saw. Because it is black it is unabtrusive and blends in nicely. Anyway, I removed the captains chart table and put it there. I took the top of the chart table and built it in so that it rests on top of the refridge, and can still be used as a chart table top. You loze the chart table storage..but it was a very worthwhile sacrafice for me. You have to make sure that you secure the fridge really well and you also have to make a latch for it to keep the door closed while hiking. I bought a ac/dc converter that I use for everything on the boat...just make certain to isolate a battery for starting.
