We are thinking of putting in an aftermarket fridge in our 290. Has anyone had any experience doing this and/or can anyone recommend a good aftermarket brand that works well and is an easy install.
Thank you

Check out the ISO Therm units. The SP units are just about silent and generate almost no heat to the interior of the boat. Check out e-Marine Inc in Fl. or Defender, they both carry them. Very low power consumption.

I have installed 3 Adler Barbour units in my boat and others. It was an extremely easy job to do. The trick is finding a place for the compressor. I am about average in my skill set and use of tools. A couple of wrenches and a hole saw was all I needed

I added an AC 1.0 cu ft under the nav desk that will hold a 12pk of short bottles/18 cans (See picture under H290 modifications)
The brand I bought is Absocold

it is silent in operation and cost me about $200 - I originally looked at converting the ice box to DC refrigeration with compressor under port settee but chose this AC unit as low cost/practical solution to having cold drinks available at the dock. Converting your Ice Box is a better choice but thought I'd share this alternative
