Wife and I new to site & sailing.

Got a 2003 Oceanis 311 last week. Connected to marina. Yesterday we turned on the switches for the "outlets" and "refrigerator" and nothing. Checked all outlets and fridge connections with AC power tester - no juice. Did so with one battery on and then both. Still nothing. Are we doing something wrong or is it time to call an electrician? All else works fine.

Please advice or share a link to related info.

Does the reefer run on both AC and DC? Seems that your AC circuit breaker/switch is open. We will need more detail to help much beyond that.

At the breaker panel do the pilot lights come on when you flip a breaker "on"? Is there a reading at the batteries? There is a fuse between the shore power and the breaker panel, probably located in the the lazzarette?

Are your issues with the 110 side or the 12v.? You mentioned both outlets (110) and fridge 12v.

110v. On the inboard side of the shore power connection you should have a 110 breaker. Make sure that is on - then check your 110v panel. If you don't have power then check the breaker on the dock - most shore power pedestals have breakers there. FYI make sure the charger breaker is on otherwise your batteries won't charge at the dock.

When you flip on the batteries the 12v panel should be energized. On my 423 circuit breaker panel there is a on off switch on top of the panel. If it's on, when you turn on the breakers the LEDs should light up for each breaker that is on. When you flip on the fridge breaker if you don't have a light then you don't have power coming in.

Try both of these first before going further.

TJ: Those reefers must be hard wired to 12v, right? If thats so, he has both a DC on, and AC on problem? Chief

Beneteau wires everything through breakers on the panel except for really heavy load devices such as windlass and bow thruster. These go through large individual breakers. If it's direct wired to the fridge then a PO made a change which by the way could be pretty dicey.

On 110v: I've had 4 B boats since 86 and all had a breaker on the inside of the Marinco shore power inlet (ABYC standard?). Although it's never happened to me it is possible that the shore power breaker there could have tripped or intentionally turned off by marina staff.

TJ: Sounds like you can help him since you know the boat systems.

12v on my fridge

Off topic, but when I saw Chief say he spent time at Rossy Roads, I came to life. I also did 3 year flying rescue helos for the NAS and loved it. I've had my hunter 37c for 19 years.

Captn TJ's giving good advice all the way through. The 311 refer only runs on DC. And definitely through the panel.

Watercayman, does the 311 have the turn on/off battery switches, like my B323 and others?

On the basic troubleshooting category and since its a new to you boat, make sure the correct dock breaker is on and working. Also, you MAY have two AC inputs in which case you will need a 50amp supply at the dock and a splitter to run two cables to your boat.

All electrical devices work properly except for the fridge and the outlets which show no juice. The boat is connected to the Marina and the batteries charge fine. Still, from your posting I sort of get the idea that there may be a switch to select 12v or 110? Perhaps a switch to turn those on?

I assume you located the 110v panel and you turned on the breaker for outlet's? If that's the case then locate the outlet that has a GFCI and reset that. If that doesn't work then you'll need to start at the panel and locate the issue with the 110 wire.

On the fridge I assume you've turned on the breaker at the 12v panel marked fridge and the LED panel light comes on? If that works then locate the compressor and put a meter on the wires to make sure you have juice coming in. If you do then check the owners manual to make sure ere isn't a fuse in the unit.

I assume you know but just in case.....the outlets are 110v and the fridge is 12v. so the issues are unrelated.
