Hi All I recently bought an Oceanis 400. I am a bit baffled with the fridge drain. It is connected to the sink drains at the seacock. The drain itself seems to be below water level and therefore will not drain by gravity. The boat is parked up at the moment so I cannot check to see if it will drain while under way. The hole may act like a venturi and suck the water out underway. Does anyone know the workings of this? Is there an online owners manual for this model? Regards and thanks in Advance chamac

fridge drain

The hose arrangment is deceptive. The fridge is drained by the bilge pump, with a selector valve under the settee near the water pump, etc.

Thanks Larry

Thanks Larry for that. I will investigate that next time I am on the boat. Mine is a French built charter layout. I have just bought it so I am unfamiliar with it and still learning the boat. The drain looks like it goes to a seacock under the sink. It has a sign near it saying "fridge drain" and is connected to the sink drains at the seacock. It is not a conventional on/off seacock as the fridge drain enters it in the centre and the sink drain enters at the "normal end". It looks like you can select either sink or fridge drains. The sink drains ok because it is well above water level. I will look at the pump suggestion which makes sense because of the below water level aspect. US built boats could well be totally different.

Fridge Drain

On my F310 under the sink there are two seacock like devices. One is the standard seacock for the sink drain. The other is connected to a footpump. One setting on this value allows you to drain the fridge into the sink using the footpump the other setting allows you to pump seawater into the sink. You setup may be different.

Thanks Randy

That sounds a little more like the setup on my boat. I do have the seawater pump and there is a pipe connecting the two. That could be the answer. There is a two way valve connecting the fridge drain and the sink drain. I will experiment. Thanks again for your replys folks.

sinker

My OC 400 is an American built 1994. The foot pump under the sink brings saltwater to the sink. I'm sure Bene has changed things since then.
