fressh water pump problem

Jabsco PAR-MAX 3......about 4 years old.

First time using it this season. Turn the breaker switch on. No sound of pump turning on. Breaker switch turns itself off in about 4-5 seconds.

Any ideas?

Likely suspects - locked rotor or frozen pump binding up the motor.

Unlikely suspect - wiring short. The breaker would trip faster if it were a short.

Do you get voltage at the pump? Open the panel. A friend recently had this problem and we traced it to a loose wire behind the panel. He was "afraid" to open it himself. Not anymore...

Same problem recently

I had the same problem recently with my Par diaphram style water pressure pump. The diaphram had been leaking and this resulted in the bearing on the cam arm freezing. Some PB blaster, grease and a new diaphram did the job.
