Peggy, My freshwater pump on my 2001 hunter went out last summer. I have checked the fuse and have made sure the line is hot. I have now removed it and have taken it apart. It appears to be what you call the diaphram type of pump, a Jabsco PAR automatic 30595-0092.I have rotated the shaft and observed the diaphram action, all seems to be OK. Is there anything I can do to it to get it functioning? Thanks, Scott S/V Hello Dolly PS yes, it's probably my fault it went out. But maybe still under warranty?

What are the symptoms?

I need a little more to go on than "it died." What does it do, and what doesn't it do--other than not pump any water any more? Does the motor run, or is it dead? Is it overheating? If so, does it shut off, or does it blow the circuit breaker on the boat? If it runs, but just doesn't pump any water, have you tried it at home (simple to do..stick a short hose on the inlet end and wire it to a battery. Stick the hose in a bucket or pan of water, turn it on and see if anything comes out the other end)?

Water Pump

Scott, My pump failed when my boat was new and it was a bad pressure switch. If it does not run at all that is a possibility. The pressure switch is located on the pump. I bypassed the pressure switch and the pump ran fine. I purchased a complete replacement, installed it and then fixed the other one and keep it onboard as a spare. I think the new pressure switch was about $30. I also installed an accumulator to minimize the cycling of the pressure switch and increase its life. Let us know what you find out.

Save yourself some aggravation.

Scott: Save yourself some aggravation. Call Jabsco and get an RMA. They repair them at a very reasonable cost. If it IS under warranty, they will fix it for free.

Thanks to all

Peggy- the motor does not run at all, doesn't make a sound. I suppose it could be this pressure switch, but it's probably out of reach for me, tinker -wise. So, it's a call to Hunter or Jabsco for me. I'll post results of my effort. Signed, temporarily pumpless

If the motor doesn't run at all,

and it doesn't even get warm or make even the slightest humming sound, it's not getting any power. The problem may be the power source, or it may be a short in the pump. You can send it back to Jabsco...but the simplest solution is a new pump. A 1.6 gpm Shurflo--which is plenty big enough for your boat--is very inexpensive. By the time you pay Jabsco to fix it, plus pay shipping back and forth (UPS rates have gone through the roof since gas prices have gone up), you'll spend almost as much.
