Black bladder bags

Thought I would chime in here to say that the first owner of our 1978 Hunter 30 replaced the fresh water tank with two (port and starboard) black bladder bags. One is in the storage area under the port settee (that also connects under the sink in the head) and the other is on starboard in the same location (under hanging locker). I guess they wanted the boat to tbe better balanced. Each tank holds 15 gallons and seems to work great. Only issue: you cannot fill them with gravity (deck fitting is no longer used), you have to bring the hose INTO the cabin and fill each tank with pressure. Not a big deal but I would love to be able to fill the water tanks without bringing a live hose into our living room. Good luck on your project. Eric

Simple solution, Eric

Install vents in the tanks. Without vents, filling 'em is like blowing up a balloon. Install vents, so that air displaced by water has some place to go, and you can fill the tanks through the deckfills.

My Bladder works fine

Just completed the same project myself on my 1979 H30. After cutting out the old water tank with a sawz-all I installed a 28 gal. bladder that I got at West Marine. I can still fill the bladder from the deck fill and (so far) everything is working just fine.

Have to Cut?

So the only way to get the old one out is to cut it out? The settee does not screw off ( I read on another thread that for the Cherubini 34 or 37 you can unscrew the settee and remove & replace the tank whole ). I forgot to look last weekend to see if there were screws to remove.
