The fresh water tanks on my 1989 Hunter 375 smell like sulfer. I have flushed with fresh water and flushed with fresh water with bleach added. This has not helped much. It is a pressurized water system with a water heater. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

Sure it's the fresh water tank?

The sulfur smell is usually caused by the hot water heater's anode reaching the end of it's service life. Do you only get the smell when you open the hot water faucets? Manny

FRESH WATER TANK ODOR

Greetings from another S. Chesapeake Bay sailor. Your's is a problem suffered by most sailors at one time or another. Instead of spending a lot of time here with advice, I suggest you go to the archives and look at Peggy Hall's 1/11/05 reply to a question about tank/line odor and spring commissioning. She is absolutely the best source of information on heads and water system troubleshooting in the business. I follow her recommendations to the letter and don't have problems with odor. Good luck and we'll see you on the bay! Tim S/V "Magic" C400 #251
