There may not be a deck fill. On older tanks like that, there was sometimes only a fill port on the top of the tank.

I have a 1984 Lippencott. Two water stores on port and starboard, each have fill caps on top of the tanks. No deck fill. Make sure your bilge pump is working and don't leave it unattended.

Mine only had a fill on the top if the tank, forward of the head. Cut a much larger hole and inserted a deck plate with larger screw on cover so you can get your hand down there with a sponge to make sure it's really dry at layup time

Hi TE, I just purchased a '73 Pearson 30 and I'm thrilled with her! I do have a water fill port on the port side of the deck. It's a great boat and fast but she needs bottom work. Unfortunately, I have no way to do that cheaply! I'll have figure a way to do some of the work on a shoestring budget though. I've been play-racing and in the last race of the fall series, I was competing with an Islander 36 and an O'day 27 and in a good 10 knot wind going downhill toward the leeward mark I was staying even with them! I even have a headsail made for a Helms 27 and was very impressed with the boat! I've got lots to do but I would hope maybe you could give me some pointers about the boat! How long have you owned her?

I also have a Catalina 22 that I'm going to drysail. I'll tell you about later!

Thanks, Lee in SC
