So my Johnson XP’s 3.5 gal/min gave up after 3 seasons. It was quiet and also I liked the quick release hose connections. Put back the jabsco that was used prior…… thing sounds like a Haley but has better water flow at 3.8 gal/min.
What experiences with fresh water pumps…….. I was considering a néw Johnson but with greater flow and a rebuild kit for the old unit

We also have an Aqua King and have been happy with it. While you mentioned higher flow was a plus for the old Jabsco, when cruising or living aboard a lower flow rate helps to conserve water. The 3 gallon per minute flow is more than adequate for our needs.

I have a Shurflo .. First one lasted twenty-something years
Shurflo Aqua King II Standard Fresh Water Pump (wholesalemarine.com)
Mine is from 1986, still going strong, no rebuilds ever.

Almost regardless of boat size, because flow requirements are based on the number of faucets one would have operating at thew same time. Bigger boats "may" need higher pressure, but not necessarily higher flow rates. Check both in the specs before purchasing.
