I'm looking to buy a new fresh water pump (the one that pressurizes the faucets). Mine makes a lot of noise when pressuirng up (it's the original pump to the boat) and I want to upgrade. Any recommendations for a good quiet reliable pump under $100 ?

Quiet, reliable and under $100... I don't think so. Your best bet is probably a Johnson Aqua Jet pump. I don't know how reliable they are, but they're supposed to be fairly quiet and are about $110.

I just replaced my 23 year old pump with a new shurflo. There is a problem with the new one, it is so quiet I can't hear it running to know it shut off so if the water supply is low the pump can keep running dry and it is really quiet. The old one was also a shurflo but made a lot more noise. So far I am very happy with the performance and considering the old one lasted 23 years it is hard to argue with that kind of reliability. I bought it at a local West because I was in a hurry, see if this site has one and give them the business.

These pumps that are under $100 will probably be just as noisy as the one you have. I suggest that you save up your money and get a VSD. They also consume less power (if you care).
Yes, I was asking for a lot with dependable, quiet and under a $100...but the people on this board have can come up with some pretty good ideas. I know the VSD pumps are great and I can certainly buy one...I just hate to spend almost $200 on something I really don't use very much as most of my time is spent day sailing or on single overnights.

I just installed a Shurflo that is rated at 3.2 gallons. It is probably at the minimum pumping amount that I would like. It makes just enough noise to know that it shuts off when the water is off and is in a compartment under the seat that is ventilated to the galley. It was about $90 at an RV store that I used to deal with when I had an RV. I believe in supporting the marine stores but they wanted twice as much for the same thing.
My God, Shurflo is pretty much the standard in the industry and anything over 3.5 gal is overkill on a 30 ft boat. As said, make sure and "rubber" mount it, put in an accumulator tank for serious overkill, but there is no need to spend $189-220 or more for a fresh water pump!
mine are all jabsco--i understand they were at least 150 when purchased--donot know if still available--they make a noise so i know when the pressure water pump is left on and when a leak happens--i like the noise!!! i have found some leaking in fresh water lines by means of the noises put out by the pumps...btw--25 gal water will disappear from your tanks in 8 min flat..LOL..goood luck!!..
I have a Columbia 9.6 and it has a Jabsco 36900 Belt drive pump.. The belts keep falling off and it is a pain in the keester...I have a shower, bathroom sink and kitchen sink and two water tanks... I dont have hot water. What is the best bang for the buck, that I can pop in with nice pressure? It seems that many like the Shurflo, the FloJet, and the ParMax.. Will it need a an accumlator tank? Smart Sensor or nAutomatic... Basically I want quiet, high pressure... Thanks
