I'm finally at my 9.2A and am staying aboard for a few days while working on way too many projects. (I'll update my thread on the new waste tank tomorrow.) Now I've got a new problem to add to the list.

When I was last at the boat a couple of weeks ago, the fresh water pump (a Shurflo) would run constantly, when switched on. I filled the water tank, after which it would cycle only when there was demand. All seemed normal.

Now it makes a very brief (less than a second) noise when I throw the breaker, but that's it. Nothing at the faucets. Not knowing any better, Iwent out and bought a new pump. Same thing. Is there a pressure switch or some such, remote from the pump, that I need to check? Any other ideas?

I just checked the voltage at the pump and it's showing under four volts. Is there anything other than wiring between the switch panel and the pump? I've looked over the various diagrams in the owner's manual and haven't found anything helpful.

Post revision #2 - I'm doing this on my ipad and it doesn't seem to let me do anything other than add to my original post.

Here's more of my troubleshooting woes:

Went back and rechecked the voltage (switched range on multimeter from 20 to 200 dcv, which obviously shouldn't matter, but it is a cheapo unit), saw 12 volts. Reconnected new pump. Zip. Fetched my jump box which also reads 12+ volts with the same multimeter. Zip. Try that on the old pump. It runs fine. Reconnect old pump to the house wiring, it runs fine. Reconnect the hoses, losing only a quart or two of water this time, flip the switch. It runs about 2 seconds, stops, and won't restart. No pressure, of course, at the faucets.

I'm going for a long drive. I'd go for a long sail, but the mast is still down.

Update #3

I think it was (and this will come as no surprise) all due to operator error. I came back from the drive and tried the new pump again (using a car accessory adapter I'd picked up at Radio Shack). It ran fine. Put it back in, ran it off the car adapter/jump box. It quickly quit. I went back and checked out all hoses and realized I'd shut off the main supply from the pump, so it was quickly sensing sufficient pressure (went I left the boat a few weeks ago, I shut off the valve in the vanity, thinking it was just for that faucet, which was leaking). Anyhow, the new pump is much quieter than the old one, so it wasn't a complete waste, except of your time!

If anyone has found a good replacement for the original Aldon faucet/shower, please let me know.

Thanks for listening.

John in Deal Island at the moment, enjoying beautiful weather.
