Fresh Water Pump, Tank Location

New sailboat owner. Bought a 1984 Hunter 25.5 as my first and working to restore all "systems". There are 2 sinks suggesting a fresh water system but I have yet to locate the fill, the tank or a pump. Appreciate any guidance, photos, etc.

The fill hose is located in the starboard cockpit locker (in my experience). The deck fitting is outside the coaming and inboard of the toe rail well aft. The tank is molded into the hull of the boat and can be accessed in that same cockpit sail locker. If you look down in the locker, in the forward part of it, there is a fiberglass cover plate that is fastened down with many screws and caulked on the edges. This essentially is the top of the tank and is almost the same dimension of the tank itself.

The pump should be under the sink area towards the aft end of the boat. On a shelf in the back behind the cabinet door in front of the sink. Barnacle Bill has the tank and fill locations spot on.

I purchased a 25.5 this time last year ... with much the same objective ... to go through all of the systems. It took me 6+ months ... but it was well worth it ... I now have a new 25.5.
As for the fresh water system. The info from Bill and Roy is correct ... but here is some additional detail: On my 25.5 (with an outboard) there is an inspection port in the starboard side of the locker underneath the rear berth. This inspection port provides access to the output hose fitting of the fresh water tank. As far as I know 25.5's had hand operated pumps on both the lavatory sink (fwd) ... and on the stainless steel sink in the galley. At some point my galley fixture was replaced and an electric pump had been added ... but the pump was essentially lying lose in the aforementioned locker underneath the rear berth. I added a cover to the inspection port ... and mounted the electric pump to the backside of the cover. This gets the pump out of the way ... and makes the locker more useable.

My electric pump is in the starboard locker in the cockpit area. I too am a '84 25.5 new owner and am in the midst of doing the same. One of the changes I made was the companion way hatch cover. The teak was in bad shape and the holes for the screws leaked. I have a drain hole in one corner of the pop top. The way the pop top is constructed, it sags a little, letting water pool in the corners, thus leaking through the screw holes. I removed everything, drilled out the holes and filled with epoxy. I then went to the local True Value hardware and purchased two lengths of 3/16 x 1 1/2 aluminum, filed the ends smooth and mounted them in place of the wood. Looks great with the polished finish and solves the leaking issue. My next task is to have grab handles made and replace the wooden ones. I will post some pictues when I get time. The other thing I did was the lights on the mast. This is a long story so I will make it into another post later this week.

Thanks for the info guys. Regarding the fresh water system, I see the sealed top (tank) in the fwd section of the starboard cockpit locker - it has the fill line and a vent line attached to it. I also see grey lines running up to the 2 sinks (galley and lavatory).... I cannot see where a grey line exits the tank however I did find a small section of grey line lying in the area of the inspection port in the starboard side of the locker underneath the rear berth (adjacent to where the exhaust line runs - single Yanmar in this boat). There may be more hardware in the rear berth locker, but I'd have to start unscrewing/dismantling wood to see any more than just what the inspection port allows. No sign of any electric pumps, either in this rear berth locker or under the galley sink area. If the faucets are hand pumps, then I have to play with them more to figure how they work (just a turn knob there - I haven't done anything but turn them to make sure they were off). Was the electric pump a stock item from Hunter or an add on?
I figured I'd add fresh water to the tank and keep looking at all available access lockers.
I too have a leak from the hatch cover/pop top area...there seems to be a slight crack in the gel coat (cabin side), towards the rear, starboard side, and the area of the crack on the topside is covered by a teak strip...I'm thinking a screw that attaches the wood has punctured through or weakened that area. I'll know more when the teak strip is lifted off. Also found water leaks at the portlights...most of the dog screws are broke or frozen...probably need to replace these with new bowmars or something. And the toilet pump leaks water all over when pumped - new toilet or porta-potty??
Very interested in sharing rebuild info and pictures with other hobbyists...would prefer using my work email though. Thanks again.

On older boats when doing repairs, I would suggest replacing all hoses to include fresh water. It makes alot of sense. Since the toilet pump leaks, you did not mention brand but some have replacment pump units which is easy to replace but stinky.

Most people who have the marine heads, to help avoid the smells, I suggest adding white vinegar and pumping into the lines between the head and holding tank as it will neutralize the odors.

Regarding fresh water, found that faucets are the "pump" type. Filled fresh water tank but was not able to get any water delivery at either faucet, even after several minutes of pumping. Could there be a blockage? Is there a shut off valve for the fresh water? Seals at the faucet gone bad? If I go to a 12V pump, will it require replacement of the faucets to a more standard pressure type?

You need to install or replace the diaphragm in the pump.It's easy to do.I just repaired mine on a '79 lancer 25.I used some sheet rubber from an old bicycle tire.It pumps like a bid dawg.
