I apologize if this is a repost, but I can't find the one I typed up this morning, so I am resubmitting.I have recently acquired a 81' Hunter 30 and it has a ShurFlo model 220 fresh water pump(installed in 1988 according to the sticker on it). I am trying to get the fresh water system working. To test the pump I attached 3' of tube to the intake side and filled it with water. As I filled the tube, the water ran out the output side without even turning the pump on. Does this mean that the pump is bad? Also, the pump is higher than the tank (I think) and the two are about 8 feet apart. I filled the tank to about 3 inches over the top of the line outlet, and tried to fill the line at the pump, so the pump would not have to suck 8' of air to get to the water, but I could not seem to fill the tube no matter how much water I poured into it (about 2 qts). How high should the tank level be in order to have the line hold the water I pour in it?
