Fresh Water leak

I have a 2006 Hunter 45CC. I have checked the water heater, both heads, the toilets connections
both solenoid and toilet , the shower connections, faucet connections.galley and pump and out side water connection. still get fresh water in the bilge.

I'm trying to track down the source of the same issue. Thought it might be the tank itself but I hear the pump cycle every five minutes or so. That would indicate a leak down stream of the pump. If your pump is not cycling but you still get water, I would suspect the tank. Although this is a real PITA, I'm thankful it's not saltwater.

Fresh water in the bilgemay not have anything to with tanks or plumbing...it could be rain water that's getting in via stanchion(s) in serious need of re-bedding, a leak around the mast...there are a least a dozen possible sources. The water can migrate all over the boat to find its way into the bilge, if it doesn't find your overhead first.

So there's your answer, maybe.

When you start up your engine and are ready to leave for the day, your domestic hot water (DHW) tank is cold. As you continue to motor, the cold water in the tank heats and thermally expands. The expansion causes the pressure in the entire water system to increase. This increased pressure will often cause the relief valve to lift and blow water until the pressure is decreased
OR
someone runs a hot or cold water tap for just a second and the pressure is relieved without the valve lifting.

Run a check on your relief valve using paper towel or newspaper on under the valve and check at the end of the day. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Peggie has a very valid point. To make sure it's coming from your system, you could put some food coloring in your tanks. It will not damage anything. If your bilge water turns up the same color you then know for sure it's a leak somewhere. Good luck

I had a similar problem. After cutting and plugging lines throughout the boat trying to isolate.... it turned out that the seam on my water heater had sprung a leak and it was on the bottom, which is why I didnt see it until removing it for inspection. I was at wits end. Who would have figured that. Im just sayin.. The 2004 vintage Hunters are pretty tough cookies.

I think my post, #2, has gotten mixed up with @fishman, OP #1, who's issue seems more urgent than mine. I don't want to hi-jack this thread. My leak is in the hose coming from the pump. That is what I'm trying to track down. Water heater leak is not the problem I'm dealing with. With the temp in the boat nearing 100F and no AC, I'm waiting for a break in the heat to get into this and since this is Florida, I may have some waitin' to do. For the time being I just flip the breaker on when I need water and keep it off otherwise.
