get a new faucet pump (40-60$), or maybe a rebuild kit for the diaphram kind , if that is the type you have....are the lines clear?
What kind of a galley pump faucet do you have? The O'Day company used an outfit in Auckland New Zealand called Fynspray.

The one I have on my 222 is the third one down in chrome. A rebuild kit is available for this pump. Generally, the rubber washer on the plunger gets worn and needs replacing.
You need to add a couple of drops of cooking oil on the shaft to lubricate it. There must be water in the hose in order for the pump to prime.
Try holding your finger over the end of the spout and pump the handle. This may get it started.

I'm not a fan of those pumps, one hand on the pump it's hard to wash up.
I installed a windshield wiper pump in line with the hose and ran an on/off switch just behind the pump in the cabin sink. I have running water without having to pump. Works nicely.

You're right John. Washing your hands with those pumps is a challenge. I do it all the time. I only use that pump to wash my hands.
I think I remember you mentioning that pump set up on the forum once before and it sounds like a pretty ingenious set up.
The water tank on my 222 is only a five gallon poly container and it's a pain to fill each time. The less I use my galley pump the better. I carry a couple of one gallon water jugs for heating up water in my tea pot for instant coffee plus a large ice filled water jug for cold drinks.

To control water flow I have a pvc shut off in line with the hose, I adjust it accordingly.
I used it on my 23 Precision also, it too had a 5 gallon tank.

I really like the 26, I had been looking for one for a while. It's the perfect boat at this stage of my life. After selling the Precision 23 I was looking for something larger but still something I can trailer.
The 26 isn't trailerable in the sense of daysailing but trailers very nicely behind an F150 for a long weekend or as I'm using it; in a slip for a few months at a time. I had it in the gulf, St. Pete, FL for a few months then in a few different lakes around Central FL for a few months at a time. It's great for overnighting and sails really well.
This was my first season with the boat. It was kind of a "shakedown" season, put in October and just pulled out a few weeks ago. I'll be making some mods in the off season and getting it ready for the fall.
In the meantime I'm back to daysailing my Daysailer One, never met a sailboat I didn't like;-).

i put a "whale" foot pump under the galley sink in my 26 with the pedel sticking out through a hole i cut just under the cabinet door. I think i have a picture of it on the second page of my oday rebuild photo album on my profile page. I love it and it works great for washing hands as you use your foot to pump it. They are a little bit pricey though, but then what boat part isn't?

I had a 1978 O'Day 25. The hand pumps were Valterra Rocket Pumps. These pumps are still available today. I purchased my replacements from an RV dealer on E-Bay. Repair kits are also available, but the pumps are so reasonably priced that I just replaced the whole units.

I remember that you were looking for an OD 26 for quite a while and I'm glad you found one. Our YC Secretary and his wife owns one and they keep it at Borden Light Marina just outside of Battleship Cove Fall River. They have a trailer for it and it trailers well.
Doing the mods to your boat is going to be fun. I did about three of them this year to my boat and there's just no end to it every year.
I had it in the water for a few weeks and I recently brought it back home to do some cosmetic work on my deck and have my outboard repaired.
Yesterday I pulled my tabernacle off my mast. I want to add two more bolts to the mast extrusion that I built for it a few months ago.
I'm hoping to clean my boat up and wax the hull like I should have done before I splashed it the first time. By then, I should have my engine back and I'll trailer it back down to the club again.
