I would like to be able to flush the salt from my OB motor with fresh water. My Honda had a port for a garden hose right on the block to flush it. Can I buy anything for the Tohatsu to flush it while sitting on my stern rail ?

thanks, Bob

Earmuffs

Earmuffs are pretty easy to use, and not expensive Slip them on, turn on the water, crank up the engine. Nothing to it.

I have seen the muffs used on bigger motors, thought they might be too big on a little guy like this ? I will pickup a pair and see how they fit, tnx, Bob

The muffs come in different sizes for the different HP motors. I have 1 for my 4 HP mercury. It works great.

Most of the small boats at my marina use the 5 gal bucket method. With the motor still on the motor mount, put the end of the motor in the bucket, fill with fresh water, run for 3 or 4 minutes.

OOPS. I flush my motor every fall using the Tohatsu hose adapter screwed into the water inlet. Seems to work great. With a short section of hose, with female hose end clamped to the inlet fitting, the whole thing is maybe 4 inches long and much more compact than those "earmuff" things.

FWIW, the tohatsu is a saltwater rated engine, I do not flush it every time it sees salt.
