fresh water flexible tank fitting

Wondering if anyone has dealt with this fitting on a flexible bladder type water tank. I don't believe there was any gasket or sealant of any kind when I dis-assembled the fitting a few years ago during a major refit. I have not been able to re-assemble the fitting without having a constant leak. I've tried adding sealant before assembly but I think the intent is for the barb to be able to rotate without loosing it's watertight nature. Any sealant will separate from the fitting and tank once the fitting rotates. I've cinched the retaining ring down as tightly as I dare withouot breaking it, but I can't think of any other way to put this together.

Is the hose barb loose in the tank? In other words can you push the barb in and get a silicone sealant inside the tank, between the flange and tank inside? Clear silicone works best for me.

Not an expert but it would seem the seal on the fitting is damaged and the fitting would need replacing. This may be like replacing a valve in an inflatable dinghy. First look online to see what replacement fittings may be available and then figure out whether it is best to use the same opening or seal it off completely and install new and perhaps different fitting in another location.. Make sure any adhesives use are safe for potable water. Just a thought.

Thanks all, researched the manufacturer and, apparently, no sealant is required. You just need to keep cranking down on the fitting over a period of days to be sure the whole system is compressed. I'll be water testing the connection this week before installing back in the boat next weekend.
