My freezer on my Beneteau keeps turning off. When i turn the switch on the panel for "Groupe Froid" off and then turn it back on after a minute, the freezer motor starts again but it is running very hot and turns off after a few minutes. Sometimes it will run for a couple of days until i disconnect from shore power and go for a sail, then it will not turn back on again until i go through the routine of turning the switch on and off a few times. Help! My Haagen Dazs keeps melting!

What model boat and freezer? Is freezer frosted? Can you check current draw on compressor assuming it is 12v?
This sounds like what my fridge did when the voltage in my battery was too low. It would cycle, and run, until it realized there wasn't any umph (Not a technical term) and then start again. When you're on shore power it's fine. When you're on the battery not fine. But I'm not one of experts in this area on this forum -or anywhere else.

If your system uses water for cooling, it sounds as if the water flow is restricted. Check the sea strainer and all the lines, or you could have growth over the thru hull intake. In warn areas, like Charleston Harbor, you can even get shells growing in the lines and about once a year you should clean out the cooling water lines with a chemical solution like Hull & Deck cleaner on a continuous loop to a bucket.
