Freezer space

Is it possible to subdivide space within a refrigerated ice box using a single cold plate to yield an area where foods could be kept frozen and still have a separate area which would keep foods cold but unfrozen? Should an enclosure for freezer space be built around the plate at one end of the box perhaps? Is it possible to engineer a reasonable temperature difference for the two spaces this way? We'll be starting our live aboard life soon so this is an area of concern. Thanks.

It is possible. We do it often. As long as the freezer space is reasonable and the insulation is adequate. Use a 2" thick insulated dividing wall and you will have ample temperature seperation. For the spillover, you can use either a fan kit or automatic shutters.
