I've checked the archives and can't seem to find an answer for this, but I know I've read of this problem before: Our H380 has a factory installed Heart Interface Freedom 20 Charger/Inverter. In advance of installing an ICOM-706 SSB, I've known that I've got alot of RF interference in the boat that I need to resolve first (can't even begin to listen to AM radio on the boat when the Inverter is running). This weekend, I powered down everything. Got the boat very RF quiet, and then started powering things up. First, the DC-side. Very little noise...even with the reefer running. Got to the Inverter and it was all over. VERY loud and I could move around the boat with a handheld radio and isolate it to the Freedom 20. Interesting thing was that if I reconnected shorepower, turned off the inverter (but left the charger running), it was rather RF quiet. My question is: Is there a known problem with these Freedom 20's? And better yet: a solution? I seem to remember having read somewhere that this was a known problem and the solution was inexpensive...I just can't find the article anymore. Much Appreciated. -David

Xantrex Support

Xantrex(Heart) has some support in the form of "FAQ's" and documents on their website(Related Link). You can also contact them through their support page. Funny, I have an old Freedom 20 and have not noticed the problem.

Euro Versions of Freedom Inverters

Freedom Inverters sold in Europe have the CE mark which means they comply with the RF Interference regulations here. They come with a suppressor pack built in on the mains side. This may mean you can purchase it as an accessory and add it yourself. My Freedom 1000 is 240 V AC output and has the suppressor. May I suggest you make enquiries along these lines
