Has anyone heard of this configuration for a Hunter? From an ad I saw: Standard features of the Hunter Vision-36: Main cabin is spacious, light and airy. Teak and holly cabin sole. Eight (8) opening ports and six (6) opening hatches. Dinette table converts to a large double sized bunk (dinette is removed but availiable). Cedar lined hanging lockers. Fully enclosed head with stand up shower with walk through to owners cabin. Shower with hot and cold pressured water system. Private aft owners stateroom with queen sized athwartships bed. Settees to port and starboard. V-berth with privacy door closure. Vessel has accommodations to sleep seven (7). Headroom is 6'6' for the taller sailor. Simple free standing rig is free of shrouds, backstays, and spreaders. An electric halyard winch makes for easy handling. Single line reefing, headsail furling and all lines leading aft make this a boat that truly makes solo sailing possible and easy.

...then yes. There easy to spot, just look for the sailboat with the mast that measures over a foot in diameter at the base.

Another Experiment gone bad
It was such a good boat they stopped making it a few years after being released. I was roomy and simple to operate but was not competitive with other vessels the same size especially going up wind

Flash: They made them for 5-6 years 1989 - 1995 (approx). They sold around 65 of them from what I know. The rigs only has a forestay which is used for a small jib. It is amazing how fast they are running. They can hold their own reaching too. Very comfortable and a very large mainsail. Very well made. Ours is a 1994 with a 38hp Yanmar 3JH2E. They have a free standing icebox, which makes an excellent refrigerator (lots of insulation). Our boat is very water tight no leaks (have not heard from anyother owners that there is any problems with leaks either). We have only had the boat for a year or so. We have had it out in some fairly heavy air and did not need to reef. Most owners of these boats love them and they have held their value quite well. Used ones sell for anywhere between the low 50's for the early models to mid 90's for the later models (depending on condition of course). The electric winch makes short order of going up the stick. The only thing that slows you down are the lazy jacks. It also makes tensioning the main very easy. We have added a dodger (already had a bimini), refrigeration, new Raymarine instruments and Ray230 VHF. I have just ordered the rest of the parts for my autopilot and should have that installed within the next 30 days. Purchased a new latex mattress for the aft berth and some other assorted items. I would do it again for sure. Are you looking at one of them?

Wish They Still Made Them
I had a 32 Vision for nine years. It was a wonderful boat and can be rigged to go to weather decently. Reaching, they are awesome. However, the lack of all the rigging really spoils you in time and it's hard to go back to wires. That said, a free-standing stick is so expensive as to be non-competitive in the new boat mass market. If I were building a boat from scratch today, she'd have a free-standing rig. Rick D.
