I have a 1979(?) Newport 27 that is free to the first taker who will show up with a trailer and haul her off.
The whole story:
I bought the boat out from under the previous owner who had basically abandoned it on a broken down trailer inhis backyard. I bought the boat for parts and have pulled most of what I need off of the boat. It is currently sitting on the broken down trailer next to my shop, (the trailer is sold and will be repaired once the boat is gone).
Honestly there is not a lot there. All interior brightwork has been removed from the interior. It sat for several years with water in the cabin, and it is full of mold and nasty smells. The winches are gone. The mast is there, although needing TLC. It is the same extrusion as a Catalina 27 with the external flat slugs so someone might enjoy having that for parts. The boom is there, and some of the standiong rigging is there, but it would take a LOT of work to get this boat back to sailing condition.
What the boat does have going for it is a very good clean bottom, and a cabin top that might be able to be cleaned up. For the metal scrapper there is roughly 1800 lbs of lead antimony in the keel if I recall correctly. I was going to cut the boat up and sell the scrap keel, but I don't want the mess, and there is livestock and horses next door.
If nobody claims the boat, I will stuill find a way to cut it up, sell the lead and get the trailer gone, but if someone wants the boat, give me a holler.
