hi ya'll, got my new old motor home yesterday. Two of my boys helped me build a dolly/pallet for it and a ramp to roll it out of my truck. We used an old block and tackle (small mainsheet) arrangement to ease it down with one on each side. Went amazingly well. My boys were interested, maybe even alittle excited to do this kind of stuff. Hell they were even arguing over who's turn it is to use the screw gun next!
Then we rolled it into the carport and started looking it over. I took the valce cover off and we looked at push rods, etc. I think i will have to rebuild it. Not from the condition of the top of the head-it was clean. But, because it does'nt crank with the handle at all. the po told me it never did and was slow cranking and hard to start since he owned it in 2000. Any ideas on low cost/quality parts for a 2003 model volvo penta? I will remove starter and have it checked/rebuilt as the first thing to do. But then i think i will remove head and check cylinders for scorring and such. Have already learned alot and Nigel Calder's "MARINE DIESEL ENGINES" is invaluable. Just an update. Patrick
