Hey who cares if this is a con job, it has been

fun. The DO designation on the registration number is most definitely DEAD ON.

No matter how long it takes to accomplish anything

that time will pass inspite of us. so we can say five years is too long to work on a boat to bring it back from the chainsaws but whether we do the work or not those five years will pass. One person will have the boat he wants and the other will still be saying five years is too long.

Ross, thank God you are out there with saving

doanations of your infinate wisdom. The few sugestions a right on except i canot get on open ended bag over the shaft-i dont think. But these are the sort of stuff i was hopeing to get. Jury righ fixes that let me have some time to save up for the haulout. I am not planning to eat all that food at one setting! I have to work the next two days and take lefties for lunch and dinner-12 hour shift. The whole unit and the docs/visitors/phys. therapists/ all know when i'm working cuz the good food smell when i nuke it. I got a line on a new haulout facility in Tarpon springs. He is a friend of a friend. Masybe he can cut me a deal? He is a sailor, bult his own 60ft cat/sailor, i visited the boat durring the build and it is quite a masterpiece. But i heard ha converted it to a flybride motor boat? Gotta go, folks are comming. Thanks all, oh and Merry Christmas and Happy new Year! Is that better. Before spending any time or money on this project, I would get the papers signed and in hand. It is a relatively easy process to have the boat transfered to your name. Fill it out and send it in to the USCG. Keep a copy for yourself. Get a bill of sale, even if it is free, say for $1.00, so you can register it with the state. The '74 Morgans had a Volvo in them, I believe they were 37hp. Later models went with a 50hp Perkins. If the motor is shot, it would be very expensive to fix. Those old Volvos parts are made of gold, maybe platinum. And they have to be air-freighted from Sweden for the most part. We had a 37hp in our old boat and the motor went south. We repowered with a Yanmar 27hp. Ten less hp but it moves us along faster. Plus, it is quite a bit lighter than the Volvo and fresh water cooled. Now the bad news, the motor cost $7500. Installation was another $7500. Alot of that was due to new stringer construction because the footprints were different. At that price, a Morgan will never recover the investment.

Let Patrick Dream.... and Sweat!

It seems that some folks live to throw a bucket of cold water on any dream or plan. The folks who honestly advised Patrick to walk or run away from the boat AND the people who advised him to stick with his dreams ALL were doing him a great favor. He knows that there is a huge range of possible outcomes for his project. Now Patrich is less naive but has learned a helluva lot in the past few days. Patrick needs our technical advice, not our doubts of his integrity. Kudo's to Ross and some of the others in helping Patrick with sound advice. Hang in there Patrick! I, for one want to continue to hear your progress. I am also learning some great info from the advice folks are giving. This post has a benefit to us all. BrianW
