The boat I bought came with a bimini, but it doesn't really fit the
Vega. One of the prior owners has installed two attachment points
(below the ones where the dodger mounts) which work but when it's
installed it ends up being above the Boom. (of course it can't be
unstalled unless the Main is down)
It's positives: It works to keep the rain off. It's in decent
shape but very dirty. It covers the companion way hatch and gives a
little standing headroom in the cockpit. I used it on a rainy day
while doing an oil change and it worked for that.
Other negatives: does not cover the whole cockpt, maybe about half.
The thing is always in the way if you have to store it on the boat.
It would probably work better for some other boat.
I don't want it and will probably pitch it if it sits around my
garage much longer.
I like my canvas covers for rain, can't use them under sail either
but they work great at the dock.
