Any recommendations on brands and fabrics? Does the "beathable" stuff really work and what do you do for gloves? Scott

Hubby says I could be a model

for West Marine. The breathable underthings do work well. Those I just get at JC Penney. Being in CT, our boat is currently on the hard, but I have almost everything from West Marine. I like the way they are made, right down to the boots.

Neoprene gloves from a....

Dive shop or catalog work great. You can get warm and toasty 3mm gloves with leather palms and fingers. They don't mind getting wet and last a fair length of time.

Try Gill if you have long arms

I tried on about a dozen brands at the Annapolis boat show. Only the Gill jackets had sleeves that were long enough for me. I bought the Key West jacket and bibs, size large. Harry Harry Greenspun, MD Bethesda, MD Hunter 456 - "Czech Mate" harry@greenspun.com

Explorer

I thought long and hard before popping for the Explorer jacket from West Marine. You might find a forum discussion in the archives from my questions before placing an order. In middle America I get some strange looks and comments like "going to a fire?" because of the bright yellow and reflective stripes. But I just got back from an offshore passage and I love my jacket and was very glad to have it when the Nor'easter storm blew in.

Snowboarder Jackets and Pants

We bought or kids (16 and 18) snowboard jackets and pants at TJ MAX last year. Waterproof, breathable, nice bright colors for good visability and cheep (under $100 for jacket and pants). Russell
