Dean, Thanks for all the great info. Would it be possible for you to attach the factory print for the forward tank?

Thanks,
Paul

What is the problem with the old tank? what is the tank made of?
If it is a crack or hole in a plastic tank that can be fixed pretty easy in place. Could be a challenge if the leak is on the bottom though.
Think patch with fiberglass or melting the crack/hole with a soldering iron.
They make a special iron for welding plastic, you can get one at Harbor Freight. You use pieces of milk jugs for welding rod. Lots of YouTube videos showing how to do it, it looks pretty easy.

Hello all. I will add the factory print to this post. Also after looking the old tank over out in the sun I see that it had been leaking for sometime! Everywhere that it was welded on the bottom and sides had small leaks (white corrosion) and they were still wet after two days. The changes I did for my tank was. The 19" high number was changed to 17-1/2". Then I had the angle on the top removed so the top was flat. Then I had the 33-1/2" number changed to 36" and had that carried to the front of the tank as well.

Also I got to see the tools used to build the tanks! The large one costs $12000 and small one is $7000

Also if anyone wants to see more photos of this project and of the others and you are on Facebook. Find our page. S/V Our Way Too!

Well the new tank fits!! Now to finish up the install! Here are some photos of the progress. As you will see I had to replace the plywood that the tank sits on. So I added it to the top of the old fiberglass and glassed it all together. And you can see that I had 18" with the door frame off.

Way to go Dean- you are CERTAINLY the MAN!
As with others , wanted to thank you for the invaluable insights you have given us other H42 owners - REALLY appreciate this- its just a shame it is not financially viable for me to order a tank from Florida! Keep the awesome details flowing please

Like Eian (Australia), my boat is far away (NZ), so we'll both have to have our for'd water tank construction done there. It's now time for me, as now BOTH tanks are leaking. Gareth at Dura-Weld was kind enough to forward to me the drawing that Dean provided to him, and I'm posting it here. Again, thanks Dean!!
