Have a 1988 oceanis 430 which I recently purchased. The previous owner never used the forward water tank, so I partially filled all 3 tanks to insure they functioned ok. The forward tank would not drain to the pump, but the other 2 tanks are fine. As far as I can tell, there are no strainers in the line between the tank and manifold. Is it possible I have an air lock between the tank and manifold and need to prime the line to the manifold? I am not sure whether or not this pump is self priming. Any thoughts? Thanks

Possible problems--Another valve in the line--refer to owners manual if available
Line blocked with dirt or supply line kinked.
Valve at manifold faulty
Un hook supply from problem tank at manifold inspect valve if ok use compressed air to blow back to tank.
Hopethis helps

Thanks. I will have to try to either prime the line or blow it out as you suggest. There is no valve or filter between the tank and manifold.

I have the same water system in my B440
you probably have a cloged line
The pump is self priming and can work long time without water
Good luck

On my 2006 B323 i thought my water pump had stopped pumping, though running. If the marina had the needed pump, i would have bought it. They didn't, so i pursued the problem as we went on our way. Turned out there is a SMALL check valve in the output from the water tank to prevent back-flow. In this case, it prevented forward-flow. There is a small spring, like on a ball point pen, that had jammed and prevented the check valve from opening. I had previously re-plumbed the water tank, and did not see this little piece. Only by pushing from inside the tank (to clear any debris) did the valve pop out. All was well after that.

That's just might be it! I can't wait to see if that's the problem. A stuck valve or plugged strainer were my thoughts, but Beneteau did not put these in originally. However, it's an older boat and a PO might have.

Had a similar issue on our 1996 Oceanis 351 when we bought it in 2010. Turned out to be the hose from the tank to the pump was crimped behind the settee back. Checked with the previous owner and he had never used the forward tank since purchasing the boat new in 1996.

Thanks. That's also possible. I will have to trace the line from the tank to the manifold to solve this.
