Forward show drain

I have a 2005 41 DS. There is a forward head/shower. The drain in the floor drains to a space under the forward pullmans berth where there is a compartment with the sump pump mounted on the wall. At first I though my pump had failed because it ran but would not drain the water out of the floor. When I put my new back up pump in it ran but would not pump the water out. I now believe I have a small leak in the hose from the drain to the pump not letting the pump pressurize. The issue is getting to where the hose connects to the drain in the floor of the shower. It looks like the drain is part of the shower mold so I can not get to the connection there. In the compartment where the drain hose comes out and connects to the pump the floor is connected to the cabinet making up the Pullman berth. Has anyone replaced this hose? How did you get to it?

Joe I'm pretty sure that hose goes straight to the inlet of the sump pump. If the water just stands in the shower and doesn't drain at all then the hose is in tact. If it will drain on it's own after a time then there is a leak in the hose. Make sure your pump is wired correctly and that there is suction on the inlet side.

Thanks I did that today the pump is fine but if I put water in the drain is very slowly leaks out. I can put my hand in a opening under the floor where the speed and depth instruments are and feel it damp. I thinking I need to replace the hose but for the life of me I cannot get to where it connects to the drain. There must be a way

I replaced both my stock pumps( the ones with the filters in front of the wobble pump, ITE?) with gushers........no more maintenance. If you have filters before your pump on a shower sump....you have maintenance nightmare. The gushers can pump golf balls over board. Spend the money and move ont to drinks!

Joe I haven't tried yet to replace that hose but I would think you need to disassemble the floor under the pullman berth as close to the bow as possible. If you have a bow thruster it will be harder, I can't think of any other way.

I have tried to take out the forward part of the floor to get to the connection but I would have to take the Pullman cabinet apart to do that. The floor is tied into the cabinetry. I think I would rather cut a access hole and put a cover before taking the cabinets apart. I was hoping someone had done this.

I am all for a different kind of pump but I still have to get to the connection where the drain is and so far I have not been able to access that area. Right now my pump is fine it is the hose.

Whale gulper is the correct pump that I installed. About 200 each.

Joe, I talked to Semperavanti41 who also has a 41 and did his own bow thruster install. He was pretty confident that if you make an access hole in the forward part of the Pullman floor you should be able to reach it.

Joe, I have attached some pictures I took when I installed a Bow Thruster in my 2007 41DS. The pictures show the finish floor removed and the "subfloor" that had to be cut. As you can see I had to remove the forward portion of the berth. I think once that is done you can remove the finish floor by unscrewing.

These pictures help a lot. I did not know the sub flooring was all one long piece. I working right now to see if the drain in the floor of the shower will come up. I noticed there was some caulk around the edge of the drain. If there is a place to seperate there I can pull the drain up and the hose should come with it. Your picture tell me to continue on with trying to get the drain up. Removing all that cabinetry would be a real pain.

One question the step just before you go into the head it seems to be glued and screwed. When I took the screws out it still would not move. How did you get that apart?

As I try to recall, I don't remember a problem removing the top of the step. Perhaps try a stiff steel scraper to get between the finish floor and the sub floor and work it loose.

How much room is there between the floor and the glass (bottom of boat). 'Tis there 2 inches?

I never understand why manufacturers use corrugated hose which encourages clogging and high pump resistance.
