This is from my 1980 25
There is a molding around the hatch hole. The measurement on the outside of the molding is front to back 21", from side to side 21 1/2". The inside measurement (the actual hatch hole) front to back 18 1/4", from side to side 18 1/2".

For my O'Day 25, I made a fiberglass window screen. I bought a roll from the local hardware store for about $5. Cut it into a square the size of the underside coaming of the front hatch. I then sewed on a trim of Sunbrella and Velcro. Use sticky Velcro on the bottom of the hatch opening and you have a very easy but effective hatch screen.
