. Thought I needed 4 or more but was told only need 2 to start because of how boat is tied up.
2 is ok. 3 is better. Two for the side of the hull against the dock and one with a longer line on it to use a a roving fender. The crew moves it around as needed to prevent mashing things. Emergency fender might be a description.

Believe I need fire extinguisher and life ring or something you toss?
They will be federal and state regulations you need to meet. At least 1 fire extinguisher and a lifering and some other throwable buoyancy devices are mandatory IMO regardless of regulations. lifejackets obviously. Worn at all times.

Main and Bag says 150% genoa. Weigh about the same
150% means the size of the sail.
Basically...the triangle shaped area created by the forestay, the deck, and the mast is 100% 150% is obviously 50% larger and used for light winds. Headsails (the front sail) can also be smaller than 100% for use in strong winds.

An opaque little skylight called a dead something. Yep it's dead alright. Guess I can say I made some headway.
I also had a leak there. My restoration thread shows how i replaced it. There are actually 2 panes of plastic in the deadlight. I didnt replace the interior one, because it can hide any leaks from the outer one. I made wood trim to replace the interior one instead.

Lots of headway imo :)

Btw... My wife suggests you run away before it's too late.

I will say that messing around with this boat is cheap therapy. Its quality time that relieves a lot of stress. And while I'm a lost land lubber without a clue, I really enjoy what this little vessel has done for my soul. Sounds corny but nursing isnt pretty these days. So maybe it doesn't matter how long a project takes.
There’s nothing corny about your statement, at all. Very stressful times, especially for those in the health care professions, working on the front lines. Sounds like you now have a worthy outlet to vent some of that stress and to make you feel good about your accomplishments. We’ve seen this quote so any times that it’s almost cliche; however, it’s the God honest truth.
“There is nothing, absolutely nothing half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats”.......

Your wife is probably right lol. But I'm invested now. I'm on a roll! I have an outboard in my living room! Many years ago I was down on the Florida panhandle. It must have been Panama City. I saw this little sailboat on the side of the road being used as an advertisement for a local eatery. I stopped the car and walked over to it. It just called to me. Looking at it was just...pleasing. I don't really know how else to put it. It was a Catalina 22. Had to be one of the first. It's sailing days were way past. But I made note of the model and thought how one day I would love to have one. Well...as they say "Be careful what you wish for." But as I buy outboards, price sails, and read about keels breaking and other disasters, yes I'm inclined to agree with your wife.

As much as I worry about learning the lines and doing things right, she is a wonderful distraction. Just as in healthcare my #1 rule is do no harm. Don't mess up anybody elses stuff. I took out insurance. After that I guess worst case I'll be comic relief at the sailing club. "I'm new!" lol
