-Taswell 43 Seattle, WA
Hello Fort Lauderdalians, or those in the know -
I am currently anchored in No Name Harbor on Key Biscayne, just south of Miami. I am on the tail end of a two year cruise from Seattle and plan on loading our Taswell 43 onto a ship at Port Everglades in two weeks. As might be exptected, I'm a little sticker shocked at prices around these parts... does anyone have any recommendations on where I might spend a couple weeks in the Fort Lauderdale area that won't be too outrageously priced? I'm looking for the insider scoop on a slip or dockage that might be available on a short term basis, or some little hole where I might anchor. I've learned about Lake Sylvia but may have trouble staying longer than a day or two, based on regulations.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have noticed a cruising sailboat or 2 anchoring in the ICW at Lantana, FL, near Lake Worth. The ICW is fairly wide there (< 1/2 mile) so there is room to anchor outside the channel.
I doubt that Fort Lauderdale will be any cheaper then Miami plus it is quite built up around Fort Lauderdale with few likely anchorages.

If you want a marina, hey may all be expensive. However, call a couple. Summer is off season in Ftl and Bahia Mar has ben know to cut a deal. Right across from them are moring balls that The City of Ft. Lauderdale rents at 15-20/day which includes dinghy dock priveleges. Dont let the police intimidate you. They have no legal right to chase you out.
That being said: There is Maule lake in North Mia Beach(off the ICW), The anchorage east of The Hillsboro Inlet Bridge and Lake Boca-The north end is deep enough for sailboats). Bob.

If I recall there is a small anchorage just south of Las Olas Blvd on the intercoastal. You will have to dingy every where but it is there.
My brother has a Cat in Lake Worth just south of the inlet but that is quit a distance from Ft Lauderdale.
I would anchor in the small anchorage then work your way through the canals. Isle Of Venice and Hendricks may have an open dock that could be negotiated.

The Municipal Marina just north of the Las Olas bridge is probably the cheapest for a slip or mooring.
There is a river 'just north' of the Las Olas that you can anchor .... west from the ICW and anchor in the 'bend' of the river - but be prepared for moderate tidal flow.

Another thought is right inside the Hillsboro Inlet there is an anchorage. It is also pretty far north but it is there.
