I was there briefly last year. If your looking for a boat you can land your helicopter on, it's worth your time. To be fair I wasn't there that long and didn't even attempt to see all the boats but I didn't see anything with a mast except for a radome. Vendors were high end. What I enjoyed was watching the "Kids" set up the show and prepping the boats. They were working hard but the atmosphere was enthusiastic. They were clearly happy to be around these yachts. They made me feel like my career in an office was time mis-spent.

Glancing at the website, all I saw were big ol' ritzy-glitzy motor yachts and million-dollar sportfish.

Possibly. I have had the same wonder. Now I am trying to make up for the decision.

Fortunately, I can do it on my own terms and maybe escape some of the drudgery of cleaning another's boat.

I was in Fort Lauderdale Mon-Wed this week. This show is mainly Power boats from what I heard. Big show though.

Last boat show I went to was in San Diego a few years ago. We totally disappointing. Not like the shows I attended in Long Beach in the '80. Back then there were sailboats everywhere. This last boat show was basically fishing boats. There were some high end sailboats at the docks, but nothing to write home about.

You should plan a trip to the sail boat show in the Bay Area, or venture up here to Seattle for the Boat show. There are sail boats... and fishing boats... and Yachts. Kind of a smorgasbord of boats and boat equipment.

Only drawback. It happens in January so no warm sunshine and bikini girls showing the boats like possible in Florida.

No problem Justin. You have already had snow... It tends to freeze brain cells.

I was suggesting that Seattle has a January Boat show that BrianD might want to enjoy, as the ones he attended in Southern Cal lacked sailboats. We have sail boats up here in the Pacific NW on display. In most years, Seattle averages a daily maximum temperature for January that's between 46 and 51 degrees Fahrenheit (8 to 11 degrees Celsius). Tends to keep the models showing boats wrapped up in fleece, leggings and boots.

I would love to visit the PNW again someday, and I want to experience a real sailboat show. In all the trips up there for Boeing the stars never aligned properly.

Yeah it seems the show is more designed for larger yachts
Was hoping for vendors and other cool stuff

I actually attended that show once, in 1990. I believe it was in the now long-demolished Kingdome back then?
