You just need 1x19 stainless cable probably in 5/32" or perhaps 1/8". Makes no difference the manufacturer. But, in addition the supplier needs to know the end fittings. Whether they are swaged terminals (forks, MS or AC eyes) or Nicro Press oval sleeves with thimbles. And you have to know the exact length of the cable. If you broke the original, measure the pieces.

Kennth;

I found years ago following the good advice from barnacle bill, if you still have the old forestay is to send it to the rig shop to duplicate it. You will need to tell them whether to lengthen or mostly shorten (as the wire does stretch over time) which is the best way to handle that.

I did mine on the boat - bought a long length of the 316 wire and swageless fittings, stepped the mast using the jib halyard as a temporary stay and the top fitting attached, cut to length and did the bottom fitting right there.

The cable looks small like 1/8 in. and measures 20 feet end to end of loop fastened with a cable tie/clamp. Same small loop on both ends. Will look up bosunsupplies.com and see how to order the replacement. Thanks!

the early macs all used nicopress sleeves on the rigging. if you have a local rigging company make you up a forestay, make sure they use copper sleeves and not aluminum.
the forestay on the 21 is 1/8", which is fine, but you could go up a size (5/32) if you desired, but in reality, its overkill. when the boat is at the dock there isnt much stress on the rigging, and when your under sail, the jib halyard pulled tight will add additional support to the mast and share some of the load of the forestay.... so heavier rigging is unecessary:D
