Does anyone know the correct length of the forestay for a 240 1998 Hunter. The manual reads 28'4 1/2" ,my forestay measures 27'10",and is too long. I just purchased the boat. Thanks Rich

Roller Furling?

If your boat had a roller furling install - the front stay was shortened.

a common problem

I bought mine last season, and spent year 1 with the forestay attached to the bow eye in order to get the right tension.This year I had the rigging shop chop 5 inches off the forestay to correct hte problem. I have a CDI roller furler that FINALLY works as advertised!If in doubt on your boat, take it to a quallified rigger for his opinion.I also had a 2nd reef sewn into the main. This should allow me to sail in winds exceeding 25 knots with fewer problems!
