I use a Loos tension gauge to tension my rig. The starting tensions leave the forestay with a great deal of sag. Any suggestions as to how tight I can make the forestay without danger of rig failure? thanks

Tension

Hi, I use Loos and set tension of stays per Loos guide and stays do not have sag. from memory think the tension is around 600# or about 45 on the Loos scale. Good Luck, Bob

Guage?

What is a loos guage? I have my mast with a slight forward tilt. When I put the mast forward, it just snaps in place. It stays there by it self. It doesn't take much to push it back though. If your mast is set up the same way and you put a guage on the backstay, you might be measuring some of the tention of the mast locking forward. Just a thought, tell me what you think. Kevin

tension

gen the tension for stays is 10/15% of the working strength of the stay/shroud material. in no place else, that info is in a west catalog.
