PROBLM SOLVED--serindipitlously With the turnbuckle down in the anchor well, installing and removing the headstay on my 1986 Hunter 23 has been a pain, with only enough screwdriver space to turn the t'buckle less than a half turn. Then two years ago, on putting the boat up, I discovered broken strands at the top of the stay. With unusual presence of mind (for me) when I got the replacement stay at a rigging shop, I had him make it 6-inches shorter. I made a pendent for the stay using two pieces of stainless, 1.5 x 7 inches. The pendent has three holes: lower hole bolts to the chain plate; middle hole keeps the pieces aligned; top hole takes the stay shackle. The upper and lower holes are 6 inches apart.Richard E. sailing an inland lake, NE Ohio.
