The forestay on most 35s5's goes thru the hole ahead of the anchor locker and fastens inside. Mine attaches to a pin thru the aluminum bow roller plate (about a foot forward of the hole) and has the roller furler above deck. I have never seen a similar installation. Does anyone else have their forestay connected in this manner? Have you had any strength related problems? I contacted Beneteau and they said that there were two 35s5 models. The one anchored like mine was supposedly designed specifically for racing but it should have a strut between the bow roller assy and the existing attach point in the anchor locker (it doesn't). I guess I'm uneasy about the aluminum attach point, although it's held up perfectly.
