Forespar mast car plastic runners

Hey all,

I have a Beneteau 361 and many years ago I put a spinnaker pole a friend gave me on the mast. I've now lost both my plastic runners and the car is hard to slide metal to metal. Before I spend $20, I know its not THAT much, on the plastic inserts, anyone know if there is a better way to get these to slide? Or if I do, how do I keep these attached? Only one side has small pins that might fit in the plastic but it seems really poor design....

The slide inserts are machined Teflon and there is no better option. It would be wise to buy replacements and an extra set of spares.

Yeah after more research that seems the only option. they're not expensive just don't want to lose them again. I'm thinking of a few ways to keep them in place this time: I've tapped the small pin holes, hoping to put a screw in there and maybe get some of the screw into the plastic. also thinking about some sort of cap at the end, I'm sure it wouldn't take much.
