We have a 2003 356. It came with a standard jib - 113 which in light winds is useless. Can we use a 130 or 150 in winds of 5 to 8 kt? We were told the boat was designed in such a fashion that it would be overpowered if we were to use this size. Any suggestions.?

You can't go much larger with the standard rigging - the jib tracks will accomodate a 122. You won't be overpowered in light air - the main is the big driver on the 356. we use a code zero style sail, a Doyle UPS, in light airs. To use a larger jib, like a 150, you'd have to add jib tracks out side the inner stays - on the deck.
