I have a hunter 31 in need of a bomar hatch for the fore deck measure 22"x22" . this appears to be original . it is a bomar made of aluminum , the upper frame is bent and the glass cracked (misplaced step), I would like to know if I can purchase this same frame , so to just swap out the upper half? or do i have to just find somthing to fit and replace the whole thing

do you need hatch or just lens?

I think the hatches are still available, but expensive. Lens is an easy replace. What is going on?

Jeff, they are.

I just rebuilt all of mine. Your hatch is still Bomar's top of the line. Call them. You may decide to do your own lens though. And think 'Powder Coat'.

Yep, Look in the phone book under 'powder

coat'. And don't spend a lot of time cleaning up your old hatch prior to taking it to the shop. The process involves sandblasting so that takes care of the clean-up. All of the parts are available new from Bomar as is your hatch. The cost of powder coating is about the same as JUST the polyurethane paint that I bought to do the work myself. I sent the paint back. And powder coating is good for at least 20 years, probably longer. Bomar now offers it as an extra cost option, of course. Warning!! Major problem; If you do one, it'll look so good that you'll have to do all of them.
